Profile - East Coast Adventure in the 21st Century
Originally founded by Mark Cumming, the East Coast Adventure Team has created an award winning company thanks to their passion for every person crossing the door.

East Coast Adventure Company History
Mark Cumming is a true example of a self made man. He started work in an outdoor pursuits centre under the Youth Training Programme when he was just 18 and within three years, he'd qualified as an instructor in sailing, canoeing, power boating, wind surfing and archery and moved on to establish the East Coast Adventure Centre in Rostrevor, Co Down."It was difficult because I was so young and it took a lot of effort to generate interest from financial institutions, they just didn't take me seriously at first," Mark explains.

Raw Materials
"We bought an old building and physically rebuilt it ourselves. We had to get it ready for bookings we'd already taken and also we'd no money," Mark laughs. "Along with friends and family we plastered it, painted, plumbed and roofed it."
Award Winning
The company's hard work and determination was recognised two years later, when they were awarded the Compaq Cross Border Trade Award, and were also featured on RTE's Moneybox programme.
In January 2002 Mark collected another award when he was selected as a finalist in the Sales Professional of the Year Category, in the National Marketing and Sales Awards.
"Both of these things were a great boost to the business, especially as Compaq then became one of our biggest clients. Since that we have become the main outdoor, team development provider in the country." |
